Skin Scan Consultation
What is the Skin Scan Consultation at CK Aesthetics?
At CK Aesthetics, every treatment plan starts with genuinely understanding your skin, not guessing at it. Our Skin Scan Consultation uses the Observ 520X, an advanced digital skin analysis system that looks beneath the surface to assess hydration, pigmentation, sun damage, and early signs of ageing that aren't always visible to the naked eye. It's a non-invasive, comfortable process that gives both you and your practitioner a clear, evidence-based picture of what your skin actually needs, rather than what a generic treatment menu assumes it needs. Whether you're considering a specific procedure or simply want to understand your skin better, this consultation forms the foundation of a personalised, results-focused plan.
How the Skin Scan Consultation Works
The Observ 520X uses multiple lighting technologies, including standard, cross-polarised, parallel-polarised, and UV fluorescent light, to examine different layers and characteristics of the skin. Each light setting reveals something different: surface texture and pore congestion under standard light, deeper pigmentation and vascular concerns under cross-polarised light, and areas of sun damage or bacterial activity that only become visible under UV fluorescence. Your practitioner reviews these images with you in real time, explaining what they're seeing and how it relates to your skin goals. From there, a tailored treatment and skincare plan can be built around your skin's actual condition, not assumptions.
What the Skin Scan Consultation Can Address
Identifying early signs of sun damage and photoageing before they become visible
Assessing hydration levels and barrier function
Highlighting areas of pigmentation, redness, or vascular concern
Revealing pore congestion and skin texture irregularities
Supporting a more accurate, personalised approach to skincare and treatment planning
Providing a visual baseline to help track progress over future consultations

Not at all. There's no contact discomfort involved. You simply rest your chin on the device while the different light settings capture images of your skin, similar to having a series of photographs taken.
-
Your practitioner talks you through your results during the appointment, and you'll leave with a clear understanding of your skin's condition and any recommendations discussed.
-
Skin changes over time, so we recommend a repeat scan every 6 to 12 months, or sooner if you're partway through an active treatment plan and want to monitor progress.
-
It's a diagnostic consultation rather than a treatment in itself. Its purpose is to inform an accurate, personalised treatment and skincare plan, whether that's with us or simply for your own understanding of your skin.
